ary Edna Romeo, 90, a fourth generation Washingtonian, died on August 25, 2010 in Annapolis, MD. Born on July 6, 1920 in Washington, DC to the late William “Buck” and Edna Hillyard Howard, she was a parishioner of The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Washington, DC. She resided for most of her life in the Chevy Chase area of Washington, DC. She graduated from Georgetown Visitation in 1938. She was a homemaker and worked for the Civil Service Commission from 1971 until her retirement in 1986. She enjoyed her family, friends, and traveling.
Mary is the beloved mother of Robert Romeo of Orlando, FL, Dr. Charles Romeo, Jr. of Carrboro, NC, Dr. David Romeo of Kensington, MD, Mary Romeo of Chester, MD and the late Carolyn Romeo, who died in 1963. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Friends are invited to Mary’s Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, September 1 at 11am at The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 3644 Quesada St., Washington, DC. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Hwy., Annapolis, MD 21401.
