ary “Betty†Elizabeth Carr Stevinson, 84, a life long resident of Annapolis and Odenton, MD died on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at South River Health and Rehabilitation Center in Edgewater, MD of natural causes after a 2 year illness.
Born November 3, 1925 in Davidsonville, MD to the late Eva May and Charles Benjamin Carr, she graduated from Annapolis High School in 1942. Mrs. Stevinson was employed at the United States Naval Experimental Station, the Anne Arundel County Board of Education and with the Department of the Army at the Pentagon and at Cameron Station, VA; where she retired. Her memberships included All Hollows Episcopal Church in Birdsville, MD and Bethel Methodist Church in Odenton, MD. Mrs. Stevinson enjoyed genealogy, church activities and bible study.
Betty was the devoted mother of Gordon Graham Stevenson, Jr. of Odenton, MD, Walter Edward Stevinson of Centreville, MD and Judith Ann Kenney of Savannah, GA; sister of the late Daisy May Gailey, George C., Joseph W. and C. Benjamin Carr, III; mother-in-law of Faith and Gloria Stevinson. She is survived by 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her former husband, Gordon Graham Stevinson, Sr.
Friends are invited to Betty's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Friday, January 15 from 6 to 8pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday January 16 at 11am at All Hallows Parish, 3604 Solomon's Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Interment church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Friendship Station Activity Fun, 1212 Odenton Road, Odenton, MD 21113.
