Mary Linda Suit - Obituary

ary Linda Hardesty, Doepkens, Suit, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and dear friend to many, passed away with her Family by her side on March 19th, 2020 at the age of 89. Mary was born September 23rd, 1930 to the late Ruth and Winterson Hardesty. She grew up in Harwood and graduated from Annapolis High School. Mary was a tobacco farmer's wife for 36 years to the late Bernard A. Doepkens, Sr. and later worked as an Assistant to Comptroller Goldstein and Comptroller Schaefer for many years. In her later years she married Robert O. Suit. They enjoyed every day as a new adventure. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Mary loved being with her Family and watching the songbirds and wildlife in her back yard. She loved gardening and yard saleing and traveling throughout the United States with her best friend, Evelyn and cousin, Wilfred. Mary also loved going on bus trips with her sister, Doris, and her late husband, Bobby. She was an avid fan of the Orioles and never missed watching them play. Mary is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ann Scheler, and sons Bernie and Marty Doepkens. Three grandchildren, Nicole (Adam) Smith; Megan (Kyle) Prince; and Bradley (Shelby Cairnes) Doepkens; Two great grandchildren, Noah and Liam; and one nephew, Winterson Hittle. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Doris Hittle; daughter, Linda Ruth Doepkens; first husband, Bernard A. Doepkens, Sr. and late husband, Robert O. Suit. Due to COVID-19, all services and burial will be private.
