Mary Elizabeth Wilkinson - Obituary

M

ary Elizabeth “Libby” Wilkinson, 91, a lifelong resident of Annapolis passed away on Wednesday, March 14th, 2018 with her family by her side. Libby was a devoted homemaker and business partner with her late husband, William Henry Wilkinson, Sr. Together they owned and operated the family business, E & B Appliance Service during their 75 years of marriage. In 1927, Libby was born the oldest of 12 children to the late James S. Williams Sr. and Edith Lillian Williams. Family was the center and greatest joy of Libby’s life. As the Matriarch of the family, her life was filled with never-ending love and joy when she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren (great and great-great). Time with her family and friends truly was what meant the most to her, especially during her family vacations to Ocean City and the OBX. Some of her favorite things were chocolate, McDonald’s coffee, sharing stories of her childhood, soap operas, chatting on the phone with her sisters, volunteering in the CSC Strawberry Festival Kitchen, playing cards, and a good laugh. Libby had a beautiful, loving heart. She took on the role as mother and Nana to all; her love unconditional. Her radiant smile and kindness showed that she was truly one of a kind. Libby is survived by three sisters; Betty A. Wolford, Martha E. Christo, and Rita L. Robbins; two brothers, Robert R. Williams Sr. and Joseph T. Williams; two daughters, Lillian C. “Lily” Mali and her husband, Michael and Mary E. Lamb and her husband, James. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and her grand-dog, Sammy. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five sons, Thomas Jared, James Henry, William Michael Sr., Thomas David Sr., and William Henry, Jr.; five brothers, James S. Williams Jr, Ronald E. Williams, Richard A. Williams, Warren D. Williams, and Louis G. Williams; one sister, Frances V. Mosely; one great-grandchild, Nathan B Gill; and the family dog, Bridget. Friends are invited to celebrate Libby's life at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Tuesday, March 20 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 Bestgate Rd., Annapolis, MD on Wednesday, March 21 at 10:30 AM.
