She was born in Bel Alton, MD. Daughter of Joseph A. and L. Viola (Marlow) Thompson on September 7, 1922. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, La Plata, MD until she graduated in June, 1940. After high school, she moved to Washington, D.C. and started to work for Western Union Telegraph Company. In 2016, she purchased a home in Ladson, SC where she resided with her granddaughter Tricid Wood until she passed. She was an active member in church, school, and fraternal organizations until her health failed. In her later years, she pursued a childhood dream to play the organ. She had been taking lessons and doing well until her health prevented her from continuing. Mrs. Wood is survived by one son, Charles S. Wood, nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren, her brother, George S. Thompson, of Bel Alton, MD, and her sister Anna Mae Voigt, of Rockville, MD.
