ary Anne Katherine Fleming, of 85 years, passed away at home on March 31, 2019. She lived with her husband, Ralph David Fleming, in Bowie, Maryland. At her passing, she was surrounded by several of her family members, including her husband, daughter, granddaughters, grandson, and great-granddaughter. During Mary Anne’s married life of 63 years with her husband, Ralph, she has lived in Hawaii, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Indiana, and Maryland. She was born on November 26, 1933, in Honolulu, Hawaii to Abraham K. Kiai and Beatrice (Ing) Kiai. She was the first of two children. Mary Anne left Hawaii at age 17 to attend Nursing School at St. Joseph Hospital and Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. During her nursing career, she worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) at St. Francis Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii; Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas; and Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. During their retirement years, Mary Anne and her husband enjoyed traveling in a recreation vehicle (RV) throughout the United States and Canada, and spent many winters in Hawaii. Surviving are her sister, Elizabeth J. Kiai; husband, Ralph D. Fleming; daughter, Mary K. Miller and her three children Jacob D. Miller, Michol M. Miller, and Ethan K. Miller; son, Steven L. Fleming, and his two children, Taylor Fleming and Jeremy Fleming; daughter, Melissa G. Fleming and her two children, Katrina M. Fleming and Coleman F. Smat, and great granddaughter Lucy Vanhorn. A funeral Mass will be said at 11.00 AM on Friday, April 5, 2019, at St. Mary’s Church of Piscataway, 13401 Piscataway Road, Clinton, Maryland 20735.
