Matthew D. Moulis - Obituary

W

e are heart broken to announce the passing of Matthew Daniel Moulis, a caring and dedicated son of Edward and Illana Moulis, a compassionate and empathetic brother of Ted, Jenny, Andrew, and Stephen; a cool and hip uncle of 11 nieces and nephews, and a thoughtful and considerate friend to many. Born on May 6, 1981, he was a 1999 graduate of Archbishop Spalding and a 2006 graduate of Towson University, earning a BS in History. A talented musician, he was a drummer in multiple bands throughout the DelMarVa region, as well as in Austin, Texas. Gifted in music, Matthew was a self taught drummer, guitarist, and pianist. He had a wide range of knowledge, from jazz to the Talking Heads and shared hours of conversations with family and friends on the subtleties of a song or rhythm. He brought his love of music to the School of Rock in Baltimore and Austin, teaching kids drumming lessons. He was a curious life long learner, spending time as a docent at the LBJ Presidential Library and countless hours reading about US history. He enjoyed watching the Capitals, Orioles, and the Commanders and loved showing his fervent support with family and friends. He had a special place in his heart for animals, especially dogs, whose loyalty and love mirrored his own. His four-legged companions, especially Walter, a rescue pit bull, were constant friends. More than anything, Matthew had a beautiful heart, a playful humor, and a special way of making anyone feel welcomed and heard. The youngest of five siblings, he figured out how to navigate the interesting and unique personalities that intertwine families. He shared these gifts through his amazing ability to listen, hug, and lighten our moods with his humor. Friends are invited to celebrate Matthew's life at St. Bernadette Parish, 801 Stevenson Rd., Severn, MD, on Monday, July 7, from 10 am until Mass of the Resurrection is offered at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Matthew’s name to the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) 2490 Giles Road, Baltimore, MD 21225 or online at BARCS Condolences may be made by using the Memories tab on this page.
