Matthew Thomas Riggleman - Obituary

M

atthew Thomas Riggleman, “Matt”, 35, a resident of Edgewater, Maryland, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. Born on June 29, 1982 in Clinton, MD to Teddy “David” and Lisa Riggleman, Matt was a devoted dad to his daughter, Skyler. He was very close to his siblings, nieces and nephews. He was a Master Woodworker with an artistic flair, a skill he learned from his father. Matt was a quiet person but knew no strangers. He was incredibly kind, a trait he inherited from his mother. Matt’s many interests included participating in anything involving Skyler “Love that Kid", he’d say, enjoying a Sunday ride on his motorcycle with friends, fishing, hunting, skeet shooting, skiing and various other sports. Anything outdoors. His skill set led him throughout Washington and Maryland, from building bars in DC to houses in Maryland. From the time they were old enough to walk Matt and his brother, Dave have been building. He always kept a watchful eye on his sister, Brittany and her kids. They had a very special relationship. Matt is survived by his daughter, Skyler Riggleman; his longtime companion, Renee Nye; his parents, David and Lisa of Edgewater, MD; his brother, David Blair Riggleman (Chelsea DeBord); his sister, Brittany Riggleman Murphy (JC Murphy); his grandparents, Thomas B. and Alice Thompson of Mechanicsville, MD and Mildred Riggleman of West Virginia; his nieces, Meadow and Heidi Murphy and his nephew, Jimmy Murphy. Matt was predeceased by his grandfather, Teddy B. Riggleman. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Matt's life on Sunday, August 27 from 11am until 12pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where his funeral service will follow at 12pm.
