Maxine Ramey - Obituary

axine Faye Ramey, age 78, a resident of Annapolis since 1956 died on Monday, November 24 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born on August 20, 1936 in Bluefield, WV to the late Anderson and Ruth Neal Melvin, Maxine attended public school in Bluefield. She was a homemaker and also operated Ramey General Cleaning Service. Maxine’s fun and tell it like it is personality made her the central figure of a large and extended family. She was known for cooking her famous chicken and dumplings and enjoyed bluegrass music and raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Marvin Ramey in 2001 and a sister, Jackie Anderson. She is survived by her children, Steve Ramey of Annapolis and Reba Gales of Linthicum, MD; a brother, Ronnie Melvin of Chester, MD; grandchildren, James Edward Gales, Jr. of Linthicum, MD, Eva Ramey Swontek and Tina Cornwell both of Conway, SC; a niece, Eva Renee Anderson; a nephew, Bradley Anderson and six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
