ur beloved mother and grandmother, Maxine Lowry Staples, died peacefully on February 21st, 2025, surrounded by family at her home. She was 91. Maxine Muriel Lowry Staples was born in Richmond Virginia on November 18th, 1933. Maxine graduated from John Marshall High School in 1952. She went to college at night where she met David. David Norman Staples, Jr., married Maxine Muriel Lowry on March 16th, 1963. She was a stay-at-home mom until 1982 when she went to work for the Census Bureau for 20 Years. She retired in 2002. She was a member of the Southern Prince George’s County Professional Women’s Business group where she held many positions. She also enjoyed her Investment Group. She garnered enjoyment from cooking, sewing, making quilts, making stained glass creations, playing bridge, and reading. She took great pride in all her creations and loved to share them with family and friends. She was a good friend to all who knew her. Maxine was the heart of our home and family. She raised four children, Shawn H. Staples (Patti Flores), Dawn M. Kraham, Glenn B. Staples, and Wayne D. Staples(Tammy), in a happy and loving home to be independent and thoughtful adults. Maxine was married 62 years to her soulmate, David Norman Staples Jr. She is preceded in death by her mother, Bertie Timberlake Lowry, and father, Joseph Luther Lowry, and her brothers Joseph Clayton Lowry and Ellis Randolph Lowry. She is also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Robert Martin Kraham. She was a loving and wonderful grandmother to 14 grandchildren: Seth Kraham, Cassie Kraham, Matthew Kraham and Shannon Kraham, Amber Staples, Savannah Staples, Amanda Staples and Tyler Staples, Megan Staples and Holly Staples, Tiffany Eder, Olivia Staples, Brian Staples and Juliet Staples. She also had 4 great-grandchildren: Wyatt Lopez-Kraham, Scarlett Kraham, Spencer Kraham, and Skylar Kraham. Family and friends are invited to Maxine's funeral on Thursday, March 6 at 11:30 AM at Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Burial will follow at 1 PM at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville.
