axwell Hart Covington, Jr. “Max, Pop-Pop”, 87, a lifelong resident of Davidsonville MD, died on Monday, March 14 in Annapolis, MD due to heart disease. Born on February 4, 1935, in Washington, DC to the late Maria A. and Maxwell H. Covington, Sr., Max was a 1954 graduate of Annapolis High School and of the University of Maryland. He was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1961. Max was a lifelong farmer and also worked for Reliable Construction, Hopkins and Wayson, and was a partner in the Subterranean Construction Company. He was a member of the Ruritan Club, Davidsonville United Methodist Church, Three Rivers Sportsmen Club, and the Elks Club. Max enjoyed farming, hunting, golfing, following the stock market, and investing. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy J. Covington; his sons, Maxwell H. (Lisa) Covington, III of Corydon, IA, and Allen P. (Erin) Covington of Davidsonville, MD and his grandchildren, Maxwell H., IV, Parker, Carolina, Cierra, and Starr Covington. Special thanks to Dr. Romero, her assistant, Kim Miller, and all of her staff who have cared for Max and Nancy for many years, the Bayada Nursing Staff who provided in-home care and support, and finally to the staff of Cardiology Associates in Annapolis. Friends are invited to celebrate Max’s life on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 18 at 1 pm at Davidsonville United Methodist Church, 819 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD 21035. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Davidsonville Ruritan Club, 3358 Davidsonville Rd., Davidsonville, MD 21035, or Davidsonville United Methodist Church.
