Melissa Burke - Obituary

elissa McCathran Burke “Missy” Melissa McCathran Burke, “Missy”, a lifelong resident of Edgewater, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2016 surrounded by her family. Missy was born February 27, 1975 in Annapolis, MD to Harry and Joan McCathran and was a 1993 graduate of Annapolis Area Christian School. She worked as a day care provider and pre-school director, but her most cherished position was being a mother, raising three boys. Missy attended Revolution Church in Annapolis. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking and camping, but loved the ocean and spending time at the beach. Missy was preceded in death by her brother Mark McCathran. She was the beloved wife of Chris Burke of Edgewater, loving mother of Charlie and J. Brown and CJ Burke, loving step-mother of Caitlyn Burke, devoted sister of John, Mike, Debbie, Lisa and Mary. A celebration of Missy's life will be held on Saturday, January 30th from 1-4pm at the Mayo Beach Park, 4150 Honeysuckle Drive Edgewater, MD 21037.
