Melissa Norman - Obituary

elissa A. "Earth Mama" Norman, 57, a 30 year resident of Churchton died suddenly at Anne Arundel Medical Center on Monday, June 4. Born October 24, 1954 in Grosse Pointe, MI to the late Hugh and Pamela Mulkey, she graduated from Sewickley Academy in Pittsburgh, PA in 1971 and then attended classes at Roanoke College. At one time after college, Melissa owned her own stencil design business. Her hobbies included gardening, singing, playing guitar, horseback riding, calligraphy, arts and crafts, camping, going to the beach and enjoying all aspects of nature with her family and friends. Melissa is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 26 years, Richard M. Norman and one brother, Knowlson Mulkey. She is survived by four daughters, Patricia Norman of Riva, Amanda, Nicolette and Paige Norman of Churchton and two grandchildren, Olivia Clover Norman and Denny Fredrick Quick, III. Friends are invited to Melissa’s Life Celebration on Monday, June 11 from 5-8PM at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater. Interment is private.
