Meyer David Lastfogel - Obituary

M

eyer “David” Lastfogel, 65, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on February 17, 2022 after a lengthy battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Born on December 26, 1956 in Detroit, MI to the late Gerald and Alma “Debbie” Lastfogel, David retired from the Anne Arundel County Board of Education after 34 years of faithful service. He worked in the technology department, where his last position was Senior Network Analyst. He was very proud of his career with the board. David enjoyed singing and playing his guitar and was a longtime member of the 1950’s themed band, “Cruisin’ Gold.” The highlight of his time with the band was when they were the opening act for a 50’s revival concert in Salisbury, MD that featured such legends as the Coasters, Danny and the Juniors and Bo Diddley. David had a great passion for cooking, which he learned from his mother, Debbie, who was a fantastic cook. He enjoyed trying new recipes and always expected his children to at least try his creations. David had a huge heart and over the years he adopted many pets that he loved to call his, “best friends.” He loved playing golf with friends and coworkers, reading, traveling with his brother, Charlie and Friday night jam sessions with his buddies. David is survived by his wife, Leslie Lastfogel, whom he married in 1980; his children, Lee (Mike) Yunker, Jessica (Phil Ateto) and Jason (Patricia Norman) Lastfogel; his grandchildren, Kaleigh and Aiden Yunker; his beloved siblings, Belinda (Bruce) Latta and Charlie Lastfogel and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 14 at 10am at Broadneck Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 235 Bay Dale Dr., Arnold, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CurePSP, 1216 Broadway, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10001. Online condolences may be made by using the Memories tab on this page.
