Michael Barr - Obituary

ichael Eric "Mike" Barr, 56, a resident of Edgewater for 23 years and formerly of Riva, died of kidney cancer Sept. 19 at home after a three-year illness. Born in Wytheville, Va., on April 25, 1951, and the son of Anna May Machin of Bristol, Va., and the late Jessie Noah Barr, Mr. Barr graduated in 1970 from Washington and Lee High School in Arlington, Va. He worked as chief of logistics for the Air Force Real Property Agency in Rosslyn, Va., for 23 years. He was a car enthusiast and toy collector and was interested in films, books and restoring vintage cars. In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Patricia M. Barr, whom he married Feb. 17, 1973; one son, Eric M. Barr of Edgewater; two daughters, Tessa M. Barr of San Rafael, Calif., and Meliza Y. Borbonus of Pasadena; two brothers, Timothy Barr of Edgewater and Dennis Barr of Tennessee; and five grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 29 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1875 Ritchie Highway. Burial is private.
