M

ichael Bobby, Jr.,83, a resident of Annapolis and formerly of New Carrollton, MD, passed away December 21, 2014 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. He was born June 26, 1931 in Barnesboro, PA to the late Michael and Mary Bobby. He graduated from Barnesboro High School in 1950 where he was a member of the high school marching band in which he played the trumpet, and was also a member of the drama club. He attended St. Francis College in Loretto, PA. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War from 1951 through 1953 where he also served in the Army Drum and Bugle Corp. He was employed by the National Security Agency at Fort Meade, MD for 31 years after which he retired. He had a great love of his family, church and country and he instilled these values to his children. He was a loving and devoted husband, brother, son, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had an avid interest in history. He would often take his family on fun camping trips that sometimes included trips to historical locations. He enjoyed model trains, remote controlled airplanes, building model airplanes, attending antique car shows and going to the movies. He was a member of St. Gregory Byzantine Catholic Church in Beltsville, MD of which he was a founding member, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Landover Hills, MD and the Knights of Columbus. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his wife Jean Lorraine (Price), his brother Theodore and his sister Barbara. He is survived by his sister Rose Marie Bobby, three children: daughter Michele Brickley of Annapolis, son Stephen Bobby (Cathy) of Dunkirk and son Michael Bobby (Sue)of Crofton; seven grandchildren, Brandon and Jonathan Brickley, Janine, Ellen, Allison, Katherine and David Bobby and three great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to Michael's Life Celebration from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00PM on Sunday, December 28 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 29 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Hwy., Severna Park, MD. Interment will take place at 10:45 AM on Friday, January 9 at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD. A guestbook is available by clicking the tab on this page.
