ichael Joseph Brigham of Edgewater, MD, lovingly known to many as “Mikey B.” or simply “Brigham,” passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, of natural causes. Michael lived his life to the absolute fullest and rarely accepted “no” for an answer. He had a bold spirit, a sharp mind, and a presence that filled any room — or dock — he entered. His hobbies included boating, traveling the world in search of the next great casino, actively trading and closely watching the stock market, and engaging in spirited business discussions with anyone willing to participate. He loved sleeping in the sun, spending time with family and friends, and most of all, he loved to “have a party” on the water. He was a complex man who fought hard but loved even harder. His life story left an imprint on nearly everyone he encountered. To know Michael was to experience his intensity, his humor, his drive, and his undeniable passion for life. His journey was, in many ways, a miracle itself. He will be missed beyond measure by all who loved him. In his own way, Michael carried many burdens throughout his life. In faith, we trust that his suffering was not without purpose, and that, like Christ, it was borne with a love that ultimately blessed those around him. Michael was a cherished husband, proud father, devoted grandfather, brother, uncle, and loyal friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Helen Brigham. He is survived by his beloved wife, Delmy Torres; his daughter, Ashley Brigham (Casey) Jenkins; his brother, Rick (Rita) Brigham; his treasured grandchildren, Jaxton Colt and Lenni Josephine; his stepdaughter, Ziva Torres; his nephews, Nick (Kelsey) and Joe Brigham and his great-niece, Paisley Brigham. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, March 18 at 10:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 10103 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20902. Inurnment will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest alongside his mother, father, and family members who preceded him. A celebration of Michael’s beautiful life (repast gathering) will be announced separately by his daughter and wife. Flowers may be sent to Michael’s residence for delivery on March 17. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arundel Rivers Federation (arundelrivers.org), an organization close to Michael’s heart that supports the waters he loved so deeply. Condolences may be made by using the Memories link on this page.
