ichael James Coyle, III, "Mike", 84, a resident of Odenton, MD for 52 years and previously of Linden, NJ, passed away on Monday, February 8 at his home. Born on January 7, 1932 in Elizabeth, NJ to the late Michael and Pauline Coyle, Mike graduated from the Newark College of Engineering with a Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering and later earned a Master's Degree in aeronautical engineering. He served for four years in the U.S. Navy as an Engineman 3rd Class working on diesel engines. After serving in the Navy, Mike worked on spacecraft as a rocket scientist with NASA for thirty- two years where he was part of the ATS-6 Integration test team, The ATS-6 project team and the OSS-1 Mission Management Integration test team. After leaving NASA he finished his career with Swales Aerospace. Mike was a member of Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church in Millersville and also volunteered for many years as a youth football coach with GORC and Cape St. Claire. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading and loved spending time with his family. He especially liked attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events. Mike is survived by his wife, Maureen Coyle whom he married on December 10, 1960; his children, Michael (Kathy) Coyle, IV of Annapolis, MD, Sean Coyle of Phoenix, MD and Colleen (Todd) Werling of Elkridge, MD; his siblings, Chris, Dennis and Kevin Coyle and Karen Geipel and his grandchildren, Michael, Spencer, Casey, Maddie, Mackenzie, Patrick, Molly, Alexis and Hunter. Friends are invited to celebrate Mike's life from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm on Tuesday, February 16 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, February 17 at 11am at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Ave., Millersville, MD.
