Michael Travis Griffin - Obituary

ichael Travis “Mike” Griffin, age 71, and a resident of Chesapeake Beach for 30 years and previously of South California and West Texas, died at his residence of kidney failure on May 14, 2022. Born in Chickasha, OK to the late Travis Willard and Wilma Jeanne Griffin on April 22, 1951, he earned both a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Chemistry from Texas Tech University where he was also a national merit scholar. He worked as a chemist for Hughes Aircraft, Texas Instruments and the Department of Defense. Mike enjoyed studying military history, especially World War II, genealogy, mineralogy and metallurgy. He was a voracious reader who was always curious with life and who loved to delve into the esoteric through books. He is survived by his wife, Janna; sons Alan (and his wife Nidhi Tewari) Griffin of Richmond, VA and Jeff (and his wife Brittany) Griffin of St. Peters, MO; grandchildren Kayden, Mirabelle and Annabelle Griffin and Karoline Jameson; and sisters Victoria Nelson of Austin, TX and Jeannie Griffin of Aspen, CO.
