n Saturday, November 28, 2009, at approximately 11:30am, God called his child Michael Vernon Halman home. Michael was born in the United States Army Hospital, Asmara in Asmara Ethiopia, on Thursday April 19, 1973. He was the second of two children raised by James V. and Willine D. Halman of Fort Washington, Maryland. Michael spent his formative years with his parents in various cities in the United States and extended stays oversea at U.S. Naval Bases in Panama, Canal Zone and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba before returning to the United States in 1982. Michael attended Tayac Elementary School, Lord Baltimore Middle School and graduated in 1991 from Friendly High School. He was very activie in school participating in the Drama Club, singing in the Friendly High School and All-County chorus. Post high school, Michael graduated from the Alliance Tractor Trailer Training Center where he received his CDL certification which authorized him to drive local and long-haul 18-wheel tractor-trailers. But Michael chose his first love instead by becoming an employee of the Prince George's County Board of Education as a Bus Driver. He was a friendly, outgoing and helpful person who thoroughly enjoyed his job and the interactions he had with the students that rode his bus and his fellow bus drivers. He continued in this employment until he became disabled due to chronic kidney failure in 2003. Michael leave to cherish his memories his mother and father, a sister Dondrea M. Bethea and her husband William of Waldorf, Maryland; a nephew Gregory C. Pulley, Jr. of Waldorf, Maryland, five Uncles and their wives; six Aunts and their husbands, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to Michael's Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD on Monday, December 7, 2009 from 11am until time of service at 1pm. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Michael's memory to the National Kidney Foundation.
