Michael Mattera - Obituary

ichael Rudolph “Mike” Mattera, 61, a 3-year resident of Glen Burnie, passed away on March 15, 2016 at his home. Born on June 25, 1954 in Washington, DC, Mike graduated from Bishop McNamara High School in Forestville. Mike retired from a successful career in mortgage banking. He was an avid Redskins fan and enjoyed all sports He also enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Mike is survived by three children, Anthony Mattera of Owings, MD, Michael Mattera of Sherman Oaks, CA and Gina Marie Mattera of Silver Spring, MD and their mother, Kimberly Mattera; his parents, Nicholas and Olive Mattera of Annapolis; a brother, Nicholas Mattera, Jr. of Washington, DC; one granddaughter, Mia Mattera; two uncles, Francis and Rudy Mattera; an aunt, Grace Nolan; brother-in-law, Bradley Gretter; long-time companion, Dawn Martini; and many loving cousins. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, March 19 from 10 a.m. until Mike’s funeral service begins at 11 a.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Inurnment at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's name to the Redemption House Life Center, 7489 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd., Glen Burnie, MD 21061.
