Michael Joseph Morarin - Obituary

M

ichael “Meho” Morarin, of Denton, Maryland, passed away peacefully at his home on March 15, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 61 years old. Michael was born on October 11, 1964, to the late John Morarin, Jr. and Patricia Louise Morarin. He was raised in St. Louis, Missouri, where he proudly supported his hometown teams—the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Blues. He was also a devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan. After attending Mehlville High School, Michael graduated from South County Technical School, where he studied small engine repair. Known as a jack of all trades and master of many, he had a natural talent for working with his hands and solving problems. He built a career he truly loved with the DC Metropolitan Police Department, where he served as Lead Motorcycle Technician and Parts Supervisor for 18 years, continuing his work until January 2026 when his illness made it no longer possible. Above all else, Michael’s greatest joy in life was his daughter, Kailey, who was truly his heart and soul. He also found happiness in life’s simple pleasures - camping, bonfires, music and lyrics, time spent at the beach, and being with family and friends. He especially enjoyed shooting his many guns, as well as his favorite strawberry margaritas. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brother, John Patrick Morarin. He is survived by his daughter, Kailey Morarin of Grasonville, Maryland; his sister, Michelle Shamus of Fenton, Missouri; his nephews, Tony (Diana) Shamus, Patrick Shamus, and Gavin Morarin; and his great-nieces, Harper Shamus, Kaitlyn Grace, and Haley Grace. Friends are invited to celebrate Michael's life on Saturday, March 28 from 2 PM until the start of his funeral service at 3 PM at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road Edgewater, MD 21037.
