Michael Murphy - Obituary

ichael Aloysius Murphy, 67, of Shady Side, died suddenly Friday May 8,2009 of natural causes. He was born on April 11, 1942 in Washington, D.C. to the late Richard and Esther Murphy. Mr. Murphy is a 1960 graduate of Archbishop John Carroll in Washington ,D.C. He was a member of Local 26 IBEW for 48 years. He headed his own Union company, RAM Electric, Inc. from 1988 until his retirement in 2006. Mr. Murphy is predeceased by his daughter; Shirley A. Murphy-Shadle who died in 1998.He is survived by his two children, Susanne M. Fillius of Churchton, Md. and Michael T. Murphy of Warrenton, VA. and his beloved grandchildren, Ricky, Ashley, Josie, Aidan and Jocelyn. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Frances M. and William Rutan, his three nephews, Jim and John Prout, Liam Rutan and his niece Cathy Swanson. Besides vacationing with his family, he enjoyed his work and his home, music, sports and traveling Friends are invited to Michael's Life Celebration on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Graveside service and interment will be held on Thursday May 14 at 10:30AM at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, MD. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, Md. 21401.
