Michael Schafer - Obituary

ichael "Mike" Wayne Schafer, 39,a 22 year resident of Edgewater, died suddenly at his home on February 20, 2013. Born on January 27, 1974 in Cheverly, MD, Mike attended Hyattsville Elementary and Middle School, Northwestern High School and South River High School. He was a 10 year employee of Best Signs and he enjoyed music and sports. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Katherine and Richard Schafer and Catherine and Gerald Stroup. Mike is survived by his daughter, Elaina Schafer of Annapolis; his siblings, Matthew Schafer of Edgewater, Jill Page of Riva and Dawn Schafer of Annapolis; his parents, Lawrence and Dianna Schafer of Edgewater; two nieces, Brianna and Lauren Page of Riva; and a nephew, Jayden Page of Riva. Friends are invited to Mike's Life Celebration on Sunday, February 24 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, where a funeral service will be held on Monday, February 25 at 11am. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
