Michael L. Streit - Obituary

ifelong waterman, Michael L. Streit, 55, of Edgewater, MD passed away on May 11, 2022. Born on October 19, 1966, in Annapolis, MD to the late Stephen Streit and Catherine Cantler, Michael was an only child, but part of a much larger family with 17 aunts and uncles. With his mother being only 16 years old when he was born and his dad dying when he was 8 years old, Michael was warmly loved and raised with the help of his grandparents, the late Louis Cantler and Elizabeth Cantler. Michael learned the family trade and was a proud commercial waterman on the Chesapeake Bay for over 40 years. To know Michael, was to love him. He was a character with a big personality and a wild sense of humor. He probably offended you at least once, but he also probably helped you with something without thinking twice. He loved spending time with family, specifically showering them with jumbo crabs and baked oysters, as well as many cruises on his boat. He enjoyed nature, animals, the outdoors, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and being with his dogs. He is survived by his two loving daughters, Brooke Streit and Heather Hyman, his longtime love & former spouse, Sheri Streit, granddaughter, Brielle Hyman, and faithful companion, Lou Dog. His big smile and contagious laugh will be tremendously missed, but his legacy will live on forever.
