Michael Thayer - Obituary

ichael James Thayer, 56, a twenty two year resident of Davidsonville died on Thursday, January 2 at his residence. Born on June 3, 1957 to the late Everette and Katherine Thayer, Mike graduated from Potomac High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He began his firefighting career at Ft. Myer Fire Department in Virginia in 1982 and worked his way up to being the Fire Chief until he retired in 2011. He was a member of Moose Lodge 1856 in Upper Marlboro, the West Penn Hunting Club and American Legion Post 248 and in his spare time enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles and reading. Mike is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Powell and her husband D.J. of Davidsonville; a brother Rev. David Thayer of Annapolis; a sister, Nancy Lee of Springfield, VA and a granddaughter, Ashlynn Zimmerman of Davidsonville. Friends are invited to Mike’s memorial service at 11 am on Friday, January 10 at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 4 Wallace Manor Rd., Edgewater. Interment private.
