ichael Steven Varner Michael S. Varner, 75, of Edgewater, MD passed away on June 5, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He was born on July 27, 1949, in Washington DC to the late Broadus Varner and Shirley Varner (Weinberg). He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Deborah Varner, of Edgewater MD. His legacy carries on through his cherished daughters: Sheri Ann Abell and her husband Jerry Abell, Kristen Leeann Dickenson and her husband Michael Dickenson. He loved with all his heart his grandchildren who are Daniel Dolbow, Alexis Dolbow, Kayla Jones and husband Jaylen, Katie Abell, Kelsey Allen and husband Josh, Bradley Shipe, Sean Dickenson, Kenleigh Dickenson and the late Hailey A Shipe. He had three great grandchildren Jr Dolbow, Jackie Dolbow, and Maria Dolbow, all who brought immeasurable joy into his life. He is also survived by his sister Karen Cave and husband Dave. Professionally, Mike proudly served his country in the US Army and then after that he started his journey as a lineman with C & P Telephone company. He diligently worked his way up to telecommunication supervisor and retired from Verizon in 1999. He also served the community as a volunteer fire chief with the Woodland Beach Fire Department. Mike lived life to the fullest by enjoying time with his family, rebuilding and showing his 1967 Plymouth Belvedere, flying his Cessna 205 out of Lee Airport, four wheeling, and riding his Harley. His heart was boundless, and his greatest love was for his family whom he guided with strength and wisdom. Mike was loved immensely, and his memory will be a source of strength and inspiration for all who knew him. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of his loved ones, but his indomitable spirit will forever light their paths. Relatives and friends are invited to Mike’s life celebration on Thursday, June 12 from 11AM-1PM at Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A graveside service will be on Thursday, June 12 at 1:30 PM at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, 900 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville.
