Michelle Horne - Obituary

M

ichelle Lynette Horne, daughter of the late Claudiette and Norman Horne, born in Geneva New York on September 1, 1960. She departed this life on Thursday, January 12, 2012. Michelle was the thread that connected the family. At the family reunions, if you didn’t know who someone was…all you had to do was ask Michelle. Through her life’s journey, Michelle was always a bright light no matter what obstacles she had to face. Education Michelle attended high school in Zweibruecken Germany and received her diploma from Herndon High school in 1978. She received her Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts from Assumption College in 1982. Affiliations, Hobbies, etc. Michelle played volleyball, softball and was a member of the traveling bowling team in Zweibruecken Germany during her high school years. She enjoyed all sports and could recite the stats of the players on her favorite team, one of which was the Washington Redskins. She also enjoyed playing her favorite card game, gin rummy 500, was an avid scrabble player, reader and loved to travel the Carribean Islands. Family members who are left to cherish her memory include her son, the love of her life – Jonathan R. Horne; sister Norma J. Horne and brother, Reginald K. Horne. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and cousins as well as other relatives and friends. Sister Beautiful words for those with a sister…I’ll always need my sister, no matter what age I am. My sister has made me laugh, made me proud, made me cry, hugged me tight, seen me fail, cheered me up, kept me on my toes and has driven me crazy at times…but my sister is a promise that I will have a friend forever. A tribute to Mom I was raised by strong women, with my mother being the foundation. My mother was diagnosed with M.S. when I was just a child. Although she struggled with this debilitating disease and the pain that accompanied it, she would still greet me with a smile, cheer on my accomplishments and smother me with love. My mother would tell me and show me I was the most important person in her life. She is, was and will always be…my strength, my light and my inspiration Relatives and friends are invited to Michelle's Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 1pm until 3pm. Inurnment Rocky Mount, NC at Gardens of Gethsemane on Saturday, January 21, 2012.
