Miguel Olaes - Obituary

iguel (Mike) Allegro Olaes, 83, died at The Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care at the Medstar Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore, MD on Tuesday September 9, 2014. He was born on September 29, 1930, in the Philippines, to the late Eulalio and Laureana Olaes. Mike served in the US navy for 20 years and was a US government employee for 20 years. His interests included cooking, gardening, fishing, dancing, music, making others laugh, fixing cars, animals, and helping others in need. His generosity and faith in the Lord will be remembered. Mike is survived by his wife, Nellie Legaspi Olaes; his children, Pancho, Deanna, Michael, Robin, Tremor, Arthur, Dennis and Michelle; grandchildren, Jordan, Vanessa, Britney, Nadine and Dannon, Catherine and Melanie, Russell, Claudine, Clarissa and Colleen, Isabelle and Daniel, Katrina, Tiffany, Sabrina, Joshua, Denise Jade, Jillian, and great-grandchildren Jazlyn, Blaze, Darian, Whitten and Niko; five great-grandchildren, three brothers, four sisters and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Relatives and friends are invited to Mike's Life Celebration on Friday, September 12 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD 20745. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, September 13 at 11am at St. Columba Catholic Church, 7800 Livingston Rd., Oxon Hill, MD 20745. Interment will be held afterwards at the Trinity Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3165 Mattawoman Beantown Rd., Waldorf, MD 20604.
