Milton S. Hayward, Jr. - Obituary

ilton S. Hayward, Jr. ("Milt") of Annapolis, Maryland, was born in Delta, Pennsylvania, on September 11, 1938, to Marie Beakes Hayward and Milton S. Hayward, Sr. He graduated from Kennard-Dale High School in 1956, following which he attended the Fairmont Normal School in West Virginia. Returning to Delta, he worked in the family business known as Beakes' Delta Market, located on Main Street, before joining Hobart Corporation in 1972. There, he worked in the food service industry, winning many awards both in sales and as a branch manager in the Hagerstown, Wilkes Barre, and Washington, D.C. offices. He retired from the Harrisburg office of Hobart in 2001. Milt was a 50-plus-year member of Friendship Lodge No. 663 in Fawn Grove, PA, and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1967. A Maryland sports enthusiast, Milt loved watching the Orioles, the Baltimore Colts, the Ravens, Navy Football, and the University of Maryland Terps. He loved the beach, going to New York City and parades, but what he cherished above all was the time he spent with his family and friends, creating precious memories that will be treasured forever. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sylvia; daughter Danielle Cruttenden (Gary) of Annapolis, Maryland; daughter Nichole Hayward (Katie) of Edgewater, Maryland; grandchildren Corey, Carly, Jack, and Robbie; great-granddaughter Maren; nieces and nephews; and many friends from times spent living in Pennsylvania and Maryland. A Memorial Service to celebrate Milton's life will be held at Slateville Presbyterian Church on May 18, 2024 at 11 am.
