Milton Jernigan - Obituary

n February 21, Milton D. Jernigan, Sr., 83, a resident of Edgewater since 1999 died at Anne Arundel Medical Center of natural causes. Born November 29, 1929 in Lewiston, NC to the late Vallie and Edna Jernigan, Milton served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was employed with Tenneco Oil Company for 20 years before spending 25 years as President and CEO of AAA Rentals, Inc. of Lanham, MD. Milton was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Annapolis, the Bladensburg Rotary Club and the Country Club at Woodmore. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jernigan, whom he married on January 3, 1954; one son, Milton D. “Mick” Jernigan, II and his wife Tina Marie of Annapolis; one brother, Robert Jernigan of Windsor, NC; one sister, Rose Askew of Quinton, VA; three grandchildren, Kristen A. (Philip) Morris, Amelia M. Jernigan, M.D. and Amanda Jernigan (Christopher) Ebley; two great-grandchildren, Samantha A. and Bryce A. Morris. Friends are invited to Milton’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, on Monday, February 25 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM. A funeral service will be celebrated at Heritage Baptist Church, 1740 Forest Dr., Annapolis, on Tuesday, February 26 at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens at 2PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are recommended to the American Heart Association, 415 N. Charles St., Baltimore, MD 21201.
