Monica Robbins Vinciguerra - Obituary

M

onica Lynn Robbins-Vinicguerra, Takoma Park, MD peacefully passed away February 1,2026 at Georgetown University Medical Center. Born July 7, 1957 in Silver Spring, MD to the wonderful Sally and Jake Robbins. Doting wife of Paul Vinciguerra. Fierce protector to her brother William “Bill” Robbins, Proud mother of Velva "Norris" Smith (Charles “Chazz” Smith III) Berlin, MD, Beloved niece of Velva Walter (Ormond Beach, FL), and extravagant and wonderful grandmother “ Monna” to Jake Moser and Charlie Smith. Monica graduated from Sherwood high school and followed the wind to Coco Beach, FL for college. Monica led a successful and rewarding career in sales. From technology that was before its time to new home sales, she loved what she did, and she was phenomenal at it. She was most successful and happy when she found new home sales. Every house she built with her clients was special to her, she felt like she was a part of helping them create a home and that was meaningful. She won many awards in her career and was proud of each sale she made and person she helped create joy and home. Monica will be remembered for her spitfire personality, her impeccable fashion sense, her unmatched bravery, strength, her compassion, and love, as well as her sharp wit and wonderful laugh. Monica was the definition of free spirit. She did what she wanted, how she wanted, and always said what she meant and meant what she said. She had a remarkably strong handshake for being such a tiny woman. Barely tall enough to see over a steering wheel, what she lacked in physical height she made up for in tenacity and grit. Once Monica wanted to do something, that was it, she was a force to be reckoned with. She would command attention the minute she walked into a room. She charmed everyone she met with her kindness and intelligence. A lover of a great Stoli martini and trips to the Florida Keys with her husband. Monica was happiest on a warm beach with the sand in her toes and a rocking tan. Monica loved Motown music and had a lifelong dream of being one of Gladys knights ´Pips´. Monica was a firm believer in manners, owning and referencing the Emily Post Book of Etiquette whenever she could. She treated life as an adventure, she explored, she lived and loved hard in every way. Monica had a gift of loving people for exactly who they were. She saw you for who you were and loved you in ways others couldn’t. She was complicated, beautiful, funny, and she strived to live a life that would lead to her obituary containing the word feral, in the best ways possible. Monica will be tremendously missed by her immediate family as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Monica is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Paul A. Vinciguerra; her daughter, Velva Norris Smith of Berlin, MD; stepson, Tony Vinciguerra of San Clemente, CA; stepdaughters, Jeanne Keagan of Annapolis, MD and Kristen Freeman of Nashville, TN; brother, William Robbins of Takoma Park, MD and two grandchildren, Jake and Charlie Smith.
