urray Burt Hall ,83, a resident of Riva for 32 years, died of Alzheimer's Disease on Feb. 15 at La Casa home in Heritage Harbour.
Previously from College Park, Mr. Hall was born on March 26, 1924, in Birmingham, Ala.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war, he settled in Maryland with his wife and son.
He held several jobs, including home improvement work, owner of two ice cream stores, and he sold cemetery lots at Fort Lincoln Cemetery. Known as a shrewd businessman, he was a born salesman with lots of personality.
He and his father, the late Raymond Hall started a furniture business, he retired from Showcase Furniture in College Park in 1975 and passed it on to his son and daughter, they ran it until it closed in 2006.
He was an avid golfer and skier in his younger days. He enjoyed fishing and boating in his later years. He was also a member of the Lions Club of College Park.
He married the late Pattie Loy Hall in 1976. He was the former husband of Ruth Simons, from 1953 until their divorce in 1975.
Survivors include: one son, Douglas V. Hall of Annapolis; and one daughter, Sharon K. Haslam of Laurel; one sister, Glenore H. Detwiler of Annapolis; stepfather to Rhonda Loy of West Virginia; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Raymond C. Hall and one brother Kenneth R. Hall.
Mr. Hall's life celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Monday followed by the funeral at noon at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Interment is at the Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
