Nancy DeStefano - Obituary

ancy Virginia Harrison DeStefano, 75, a 50-year resident of Annapolis, died Jan. 9 in her home after a two-year illness. Mrs. DeStefano was born June 28, 1932, in Washington, D.C., to the late William and Dorothy Harrison. She graduated from Anacostia High School in 1950 and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, College of Home Economics in 1954. She was a volunteer at the Hospice of the Chesapeake's "Chesapeake Treasures" resale store for years, serving as treasurer as well. She was a long time member of St. John's Church in Severna Park. Mrs. DeStefano enjoyed traveling, going to the theatre, doing needlework and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Survivors include her husband of over 50 years, Robert Peter DeStefano; three sons, William C. DeStefano of Centreville, Robert J. DeStefano of Edgewater and Michael K. DeStefano of Severna Park; two daughters, Lynn Walterhoefer of West River and Gina DeStefano of Crownsville; one sister, Kathy Feldman of Severna Park; and 11 grandchildren. Family and friends may visit from 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Ave. S. in Millersville. Interment is in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, where she was raised.
