ancy Desch Lecourt, 88, of Annapolis, took her last breath in this world March 1, 2026, after several years of declining health due to dementia. She had been in a lovely care home surrounded by love and family for her last week. Nancy was born in Passavant Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights in 1955. She attended Connecticut College where on a blind date she met her future husband, Everett John Lecourt, Jr. (E.J.), who was a cadet at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. They married in 1958 soon after his graduation from the Academy. As the young wife of a Coast Guard officer, Nancy was often left alone to manage the household and two young children during E.J.'s various duty assignments aboard ships. After leaving the Coast Guard, the family lived in Newport News, VA, where Nancy volunteered for an organization supporting open housing. In 1972, they moved to Columbia, MD, where Nancy was involved with St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church which was part of the Wilde Lake Interfaith Center. While living in Columbia, Nancy earned her B.A. in Humane Studies from Antioch College and studied accounting at Howard Community College. Nancy lived in Annapolis with E.J. from 1984 until her death. She was a Liturgist at St. Mary's Parish for over 15 years. In her later years, she was a member of the Epiphany Community. Nancy made an effort in every community where she lived to be involved with organizations which supported causes for which she was passionate — social justice, peace, and women's rights. She approached every project with faith, kindness, compassion and love. Nancy is survived by E.J., her husband of 67 years; son John (Cheryl) of Annapolis; daughter Meredith Sanders (Jeff) of Crownsville; sister Barbara Desch Hart of Oak Creek, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Please check back here for updates when they become available. Condolences may be made by using the Memories link on this page.
