ancy Jean Hughes Davidson Sutphin Thomson, 80, of Stevensville and formerly of Annapolis, MD passed away peacefully on July 24th, 2024 at 4:30 am. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on May 6, 1944 to the late Thomas and Edith Hughes, she graduated from Duquesne University and devoted her life to teaching elementary school, first in Pittsburgh, PA and later in Anne Arundel County, leaving an indelible mark on countless students over the years. Nancy had a zest for life that shone through in her daily life. She loved her friends from her coffee group and Bible studies, enjoyed playing bridge and hand-and-foot, spending days at the beach, and cherished hosting her family for yearly gatherings in Williamsburg, VA. Nancy touched the hearts of everyone she met with her warmth and kindness. She will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her beloved parents, Thomas and Edith Hughes, Nancy was preceded in death by her first husband, William E. Davidson III in 2003, and her second husband, Glenn M. Sutphin Jr. in 2017. She is survived by her devoted husband, Donald Thomson of Stevensville, MD; her siblings, Thomas Hughes (Joy) and Robert Hughes (Joyce); her daughter, Lori Fowler (Robert); and her son, William Davidson IV (Amy). She also leaves behind eight treasured grandchildren: Tessa Fowler, Christopher Sutphin, Gabrielle Sutphin, Aidan Fowler, William Davidson, Josiah Davidson, Lilyanne Stanwix, and Lukas Fowler-Jones. Nancy also held her extended family close to her heart, including her 9 nieces and nephews and their families. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Nancy’s life on Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037. Her Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024 at 11 am at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Annapolis, 710 Ridgely Ave, Annapolis, MD 21401.
