t is with great sadness that the family of The Rev. Nancy Anne Stevens White of Severna Park, MD announce she has passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 12, 2025 at the age of 88. She was born on November 25, 1936 in Washington, D.C. to Cpt. James G. Stevens, Sr. (USNA) and “Minnie” Ethel Londeree Stevens. A lifelong resident of the Annapolis/Edgewater area, Nancy was a loving partner to her husband, Thomas White, for 43 years. A 1954 graduate of Annapolis High School, Nancy attended the University of Maryland and is a lifetime member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She graduated with a B.A. in Music in 1958 and achieved a Master’s in Deaf Education from Gallaudet University in 1969. She devoted 33 years to public education in Anne Arundel Co. and Prince George’s Co. public schools. During this time, she was employed as a music teacher, a teacher of the deaf/hard-of-hearing, and a special education administrator and supervisor. Nancy also served on numerous special task forces and commissions at the local, state, and national levels and was an active member of several professional organizations. Nancy has taught at both undergraduate and graduate levels in post-secondary programs. She is also a published author. Nancy has acted as an educational consultant on both state and national levels and as a consultant to the Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood television program. In 2001, Nancy was ordained as a Deacon in the Episcopal Church. Since that time, she has served as Deacon, Youth Minister, and Assistant to the Rector at various churches in the area. A highlight for her included leading teams to an orphanage and school, El Hogar de Amor y Esperanza, located in Honduras, and providing educational seminars for the teachers and staff there. She also served two terms as a member of the Advisory Board for El Hogar. Other special ministries close to her heart include children and youth programs, participating in a two-part international youth exchange, prison ministry, and Cursillo. Nancy is survived by her daughter, Kristen (Rob) Ketron of Midlothian, VA; son Robbie (Michele) Ringle of Hilliard, OH; step-son, Bobby (Kathy) White of Orlando, FL; step-son, Bill (Karen) White of Gambrills, MD; step-daughter, Mary (Tim) Daley of Severance, CO; grandchildren Nathan, Marshall, Red, Mikayla, Ellie, JT, Justin, Katie, Jeremy, Brandon, Michael, David, Nichole, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tom, her parents, James and Ethel Stevens, her brother James G. Stevens, Jr., and grandson Joshua. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Nancy’s life at her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025, at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 1601 Pleasant Plains Road, Annapolis, MD. Interment will follow at St. Margaret’s cemetery. There will be a reception following the service where the family will receive friends at St. Margaret’s Parish Hall.
