Nina Parsons Henry - Obituary

udrey Parsons Henry, 88, a 47-year resident of Edgewater, MD, died on April 22, 2009 at Anne Arundel Medical Center of heart failure. Born July 4, 1920 in Amherst County, VA to the late Nina Florence and William “Willie” Wingfield Parsons, she attended Blackstone College for Women in Blackstone, VA for two years. She was a homemaker and housewife most of her life. She was a longtime member of 1st Baptist Church of Edgewater. A loving wife and mother, Audrey was very dedicated to her family; her favorite pastime was spending as much time as she could with all of them. Family dinners and get-togethers were a specialty of hers and no one went home hungry, even if they only stopped by for a quick “hello”. She was the beloved wife of the late William Merritt Henry, Jr., whom she married on April 3, 1943 and who died on March 6, 1985; devoted mother of Thomas Henry, Sr. of North Port, FL, Alice “Duane” Googe and Jack Henry both of Edgewater, MD, and Teresa Scanlan of Woodbridge, VA; sister of Marie Hall of Houston, TX and the late Sue Buck, who died in 1996; grandmother of Dawn Logan, Thomas Henry, Jr., Rebecca Henry, Jennifer Maddox, Chris Henry, and Richie and Kevin Scanlan; great-grandmother of Matthew and Caitlin Bickford, Emily Maddox and Calista Ream. Friends are invited to Mrs. Henry's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Sunday, April 26, from 6 to 8pm, where services will be held on Monday, April 27 at 1pm.
