orberto, “Bert” Tayag, 63, a recent resident of Bowie, MD passed away in the 1st hour of November 28, 2020, at Washington Hospital Center surrounded by his loving family. Bert was born on June 6, 1957 in Manila, Philippines to Ricardo Mallari Tayag (deceased) and Teresita Loyzaga Tayag. Bert was preceded in death by his older brother, Ramonchito (Chito), and survived by his sisters Rowena Tayag Reodica, and Teri Estrellado. He graduated from Strayer University where he earned his B.S. Degree in Computer Information Systems, and held various I.T. positions for various large companies and government contractors in the DMV area. Bert had many talents such as drawing and creating ANYTHING into useful gadgets or ‘toys’ to entertain and amuse himself. He was fond of modifying or converting ANYTHING into something of his imagination. He would “improve” ANYTHING, just to his liking, often to the dismay of Dana, his wife, who would sit back shaking her head. His hobbies were collecting – ANYTHING, depending on his mood at the moment, from actual cars & motorcycles to Matchbox cars and silver jewelry. To Bert, it was why have just ‘one’ of something he liked, if it came in other colors…within reason, he would also get the other colors. “Save it for the kids or grandkids” (who he cherished), became his motto. He shared his love of music with his family listening to his favorite artists such as Santana, The Eagles and Cat Stevens. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Bert was best known for his stylish fedora hats, sense of humor and straightforward thinking. We are deeply saddened by his loss and will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife of 40-years, Dana Kibic Tayag, and his children Natalie, David (son-in-law), Anthony, Ruby (daughter-in-law), and Alexis; his grandchildren Karael, Isaiah, Camden, Andrew, Arielle, and Brayden.
