Oden McLane “Junior” Cullember, Jr., 82, a lifelong resident of Annapolis, MD, died on Saturday, May 1 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born on March 29, 1939 in Annapolis to the late Gladys Louise and Oden M. Cullember, Sr., Junior attended Annapolis High School. He worked at Trumpy’s Boatyard, Broadwater Boatyard, managed Breezy Point Beach and Marina and worked as a shipwright at the U.S. Naval Station, North Severn. After retiring from the Naval Station, he worked as a courier for Annapolis Bank & Trust before retiring a second time. Junior formed the band, Big O and the Crystalaires which performed all around the state of Maryland for more than 45 years. He was a member of the Annapolis Elks, Moose and Masonic Lodges and the Shriners Boumi Temple in Baltimore, MD. Junior also enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Joan A. Cullember, who died on March 7, 2021; his son in law, Jeff Parnell and his granddaughter, Taylor Jaeschke. Junior is survived by his children, Chuck (Leanne) Cullember of Severna Park, MD, Mark (Amy) Cullember of Clear Spring, MD and Margie Parnell of Annapolis, MD; his sister, Louise (John) Myrick of Riva, MD; his grandchildren, Will Grierson, Kenny Cullember, Mark Cullember, Jr., Thomas Gronert, CJ Jaeschke, Morgan Parlon and Nicolas Cullember and his great-grandson, Zachary Stewart. Friends are invited to celebrate Oden's life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Monday, May 10 from 10:00 am until his funeral service begins at 12:00 pm. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Annapolis, MD.
