Omar Orndorff - Obituary

mar Warren Orndorff, 75, a resident of Annapolis for more than forty years, died on Saturday, May 2 at his home. Born on January 30, 1940 in Washington, D.C. to the late Omar Walls and Ruth Eleanor Orndorff, Warren graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and Roanoke College. After graduating, he attended Officer Candidate School, in Rhode Island, and served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy where he was assigned to the explosive ordnance disposal underwater operation diving division. After serving in the Navy, Warren was a food services provider in the D.C., Virginia and Maryland area for more than forty years. He was a Senior Olympian in basketball, participating in the MD Senior Olympics in 2003 and 2005, where his team placed first in the 65 to 69 age group. He also participated in the National Senior Games in Baton Rouge, LA in 2001 and Hampton Roads, VA in 2003. He enjoyed sailing, skiing, gourmet cooking, wine tasting and attending his grandchildren's many athletic events. Warren is survived by his wife, Patty Orndorff; children, Susan (Jeff) Wong of Monument, CO, Charles (Lisa) Orndorff of Juneau, AK, Kevin Orndorff of San Francisco, CA, Jennifer Morgan-Frey (Jon) of Annapolis, MD, and Jeffrey (Kerri) Ogle of Edgewater, MD; brother, John (Phyllis) Orndorff of Star Tannery, VA; grandchildren, Caleb Pearson, Briar and Hanna Morgan, Victoria and Kira Frey, Raegan and Riley Ogle, nieces and nephew, and his former wife and friend, Maxine (Palmer) Gregory. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Warren's life from 1 to 4pm on Saturday, May 16 at the family home. Interment will be private at a later date in Gravel Springs, VA.
