Ora Callahan - Obituary

ra Esther Pardue Callahan, 90, of Annapolis and previously of Edgewater passed away February 23, 2008 at Anne Arundel Medical Center of Heart Failure. Born May 23, 1917 in Jenkin Jones, WV, she was employed at Nationwide Insurance Company and did accounting for the State of Maryland where she retired from. Her memberships included Parish Chapel Methodist Church in Chamblisburg, VA, former member of the South County Senior Center in Edgewater. Her hobbies included camping, painting, reading and being a homemaker. She is predeceased by her husband Essie W. Callahan who died May 5, 1997. She is also predeceased by her son, James Kelly, her brothers James A., Luther V. and Bernard L. Pardue, her sisters Lahoma Bolen, Beatrice Foust and Peggy Atkinson. She is survived by two sisters, Ida Mae Leon and Betty P. Trenor, both of Roanoke, VA. Relatives and friends are invited to Mrs. Callahan's Life Celebration on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 1:30pm in the funeral home's chapel. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville.
