etired Navy Cmdr. Orin J. Durey, 81, a resident of Annapolis for 34 years and formerly of Chevy Chase, died of a stroke Oct. 8 at the Heritage Harbour Health and Rehabilitation Center. Known as "Jay," Cmdr. Durey was born March 8, 1926, in Huron, S.D., and graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans. An aviator, he served in the Navy for more than 20 years, retiring in 1964. Most recently he worked for the State of Maryland as coordinator of federal funds.
He is survived by his wife, Kerstin M. Durey, whom he married Sept. 5, 1969; one son, Orin J. Durey of Canada; one daughter, Pam Tynes of Newport News, Va.; one brother, Richard Durey of Jonesboro, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Nov. 13 at Arlington National Cemetery, where friends should gather at the Administration Building by 2:30 p.m. Arrangements are by Kalas Funeral Home in Edgewater.
