Orville Lee Bowen - Obituary

Orville Lee Bowen, 93, of Annapolis, passed away in his home on Monday, August 8, 2016 after a brief illness. He was born in Calvert County on April 25, 1923 to Joseph Dell and Eliza (Hall) Bowen. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sister, and beloved wife of 55 years, Dorothy J. Krapf. He is survived by his seven children: Ann (Bob) Willey, Wendy (James) Miller, Nancy (Dave) LaBelle, Randell (Denise Dammeyer) Bowen, Sally (Keven) Sard, Amy (Bill) Pedone, of Maryland and Jane (Glenn) Kellenbenz of South Carolina; twenty-two grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Orville was an entrepreneur opening Bowen’s Farm Supply, Inc. in 1973, after previously owning a landscape business. He was a life-long farmer and an avid Baltimore Orioles fan. He enjoyed humming church hymns, his favorite being The Old Rugged Cross, and listening to southern gospel, especially The Gaither’s. A Celebration of Orville’s Life will be held at Grace EP Church, 4012 Birdsville Road, Davidsonville, 21035 on Friday, August 12th at 11am. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 11th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the same location. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Anne Arundel Medical Center, Grow a Nurse Scholarship Fund, 2000 Medical Parkway, Belcher Pavilion, Suite 604, Annapolis, MD 21401 or Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122.
