Otho Blackwell - Obituary

tho Levelle Blackwell, age 83, a resident of Edgewater, MD for seven years and previously of the Chesapeake Ranch Club in Solomons and of Hyattsville, MD, died on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at his residence of natural causes. Born in Washington, DC, Otho graduated from McKinley Tech High School in 1944. During W.W. II Otho served in the US Navy. He retired from the Government Printing Office after working there for more than 25 years. Otho was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was married to Thelma Regina Blackwell from September 4, 1948 until she died on August 12, 2009. He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Burke of Leesburg, VA and Elizabeth Amato of Galesville, MD , a son, George Blackwell of Lake of the Woods, VA, a brother, John Blackwell of Riverdale, MD, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Friends are invited to Otho's Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm and at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Rd., Edgewater, MD on Friday, February 19 from 11:00am until Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11:30am. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Otho's memory to the PKD Foundation, 9221 Ward Pkwy., Ste. 400, Kansas City, MO 64114.
