Pastor Wayne Kelley - Obituary

astor David “Pastor Dave” Wayne Kelley, 65, a resident of Arnold since 1946 passed away on April 24, 2008 of complications from pneumonia at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. Born December 2, 1942 in Baltimore, MD, attended Old Arnold Elementary School, he was in the 1st graduating class of Belvedere Elementary School, he attended Annapolis Jr. & Sr. High School and in 1961 he was a member of the 1st graduating class of Severna Park High School. He also was in the 1st graduating class of Chesapeake Bible College. He was employed at Sears for 18 years. Also worked in Banking and Real Estate. Owner of Magothy River Reality. He began his work in the ministry in 1976 and is the current Pastor of Woodland Beach Community Church. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was elected Mago Vista Man of the Year in 1970. In 1971, he was voted one of the ten most outstanding men by the Annapolis Jaycees. He ran for the house of delegates on the republican ticket in 1982 and in 1986. In 1983, he led successfully the first petition to have county councilmen by their district. He was raised in the Methodist Church, he was an Elder of the New Covenant Church in Arnold, MD. He was ordained through the Church of God of Tennessee. He was the founder Pastor of Emmanuel Church of God in Arnold, MD. Founder of Mago Vista area athletic league, as well as the United Christian Athletic League. He was active with the Mago Vista Civic Association. He enjoyed fishing, boating and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife Thelma J. Kelley, whom he married on May 14, 1963. Father of Gregory K. Kelley of Arnold, MD, Beth K. Fitzgerald and Jennifer Chojnowski both of Seaford, DE and Randy D. Kelley of Sharptown, MD. He was predeceased by one brother Earle C. Kelley, Jr. Also survived by 7 grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to Pastor Dave's Life Celebration on Sunday April 27, 2008 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home 2973 Solomons Island Rd. Edgewater, MD. Funeral Services will be held on Monday April 28, 2008 at 11am at Woodland Beach Community Church, 1619 Shadyside Drive, Edgewater, MD 21037. Interment Hillcrest Cemetery.
