atricia “Pat” Anne Baumann, 96, a 30-year resident of Sarasota, FL and previously of Annapolis, MD passed away on April 1, 2025. Born on April 24, 1928 in Washington, DC to the late Edward R. Pruner and Bessie R. Sutfin, Pat graduated from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore with her BS in Nursing Education before establishing a career as an RN at the VA hospital in DC. In 1953, Pat switched careers to become a homemaker, running her household and raising her 7 children. She was a parishioner at Holy Cross Parish of Garrett Park, MD; St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Annapolis, MD; and St. Martha’s Catholic Church of Sarasota, FL. She was also a hospital volunteer of the Ladies Auxiliary at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Pat was a beloved and cherished wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was our family’s spiritual guide, with unwavering faith in God. She was a loyal and dear friend to many, and a mother to all. In her spare time, Pat enjoyed bridge, gardening, Scrabble, bowling, crosswords, travel and, most of all, spending time with her precious family. In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years, Robert G. Baumann; her brother, Robert Pruner; and her sister, Elizabeth Witherow. She is survived by her children, Mary (Michael) Frazier of Raleigh, NC; Joseph (Diane) Baumann of Derwood, MD; Susan (Robert) Houser of Manassas, VA; Barbara (Ray) Crosby of Annapolis, MD; Robert (Tiffany) Baumann of Sonoma, CA; Richard (Camille) Baumann of Annapolis, MD, and Tricia (the late Ruben) Vera of Virginia Beach, VA; her grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Daniel, Terri, Eric, Patrick, Garrett, Ray, Michael, Robert “Mack”, Cara, Jack, Matthew, Richard, Juliana, Andrew, and Charlotte; and her 5 great-grandchildren, Hazel, Heidi, Luke, Meadow and Titus. A rosary will be offered for Patricia on Saturday, April 12, at 10 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Rd., Annapolis, MD followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery in Annapolis, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant House New York, 460 W 41st Street, NY, NY 10036.
