Patricia Carey - Obituary

atricia Carey, born on February 12, 1942 in Atlanta, Georgia passed away in Washington D.C. on Thursday, October 9, 2014. She was the second oldest of three children of James Jackson and Ida Mae Thornton (both deceased). She attended public schools in Atlanta, Georgia and attended Florida A & M University in Tallahassee, Florida. She resided in Ft. Washington, Maryland since 1984 and was a member of Ebenezer AME since 1985. Before retiring, Patricia spent much of her life dedicating herself to her work in the field of child care. She enjoyed ceramics, music, and traveling the world with her husband Spencer who was in the United States Army. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Spencer Carey, daughters Monica (Anthony) Carey Taylor, and Donna Carey, and son Derek Carey; grandchildren Brianna and Brandon Taylor and Dakota and Barnie Moore III and a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to Patricia's Life Celebration on Monday, October 20th from 10am until time of Memorial Service at 11a.m. Inurnment will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 2pm at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham.
