Patricia Ann Gardner - Obituary

atricia Ann Gardner, 80, a 55-year resident of Shady Side, MD, died at home on September 25, 2023, surrounded by her children, following an 18-month battle with cancer. Known to family and friends as Tricia, she was born on September 10, 1943, in Omaha, NE to the late Robert George Dodson and Mary Joan Cain. She graduated from Bladensburg High School and was employed as an office manager for the Facilities Department at Anne Arundel Community College until her retirement in 2006. Passionate about her backyard wildlife, Tricia made sure the birds and squirrels were fed heartily. She also enjoyed trips to the mountains, cooking Christmas dinner for her family, and watching game shows and old westerns. Tricia is survived by her children, David (Donna) Hutchinson of Germantown, MD, Judithmary (Bob) Wilson of Annapolis, MD, Joseph "Joe" Hutchinson of North Beach, MD, and Kelly Gardner of Charlotte, NC; a sister, Judith Clark of Huntingtown, MD; 11 grandchildren, Corey McGuire, Caitlyn Townshend, Matthew and Sarah Hutchinson, Madeline Stokes, Timothy and Paige Kelly, Manual G. Caunan, II, Shane Wilson, Nicole Duval, and Rachel Brinlee; and 10 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 11 at 11 a.m. at St. James Parish Cemetery, 5757 Solomons Island Rd., Lothian, MD.
