Patricia Riley - Obituary

atricia O’Leary Riley on November 26, 2014, in peace of natural causes related to the affliction of Alzheimer’s Disease. Wife to her late, beloved husband Col. William E. Riley, Jr. (USMC), she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jane Wolff and brother, Eddie O’Leary. She will be dearly missed by her sister-in-law Kathy Ward of Annapolis, MD; her son William E Riley, III, of Alexandria, VA and Elizabeth Saldana Riley; her daughter Mary Alice Gehrdes of Edgewater, MD and David Gehrdes; her son John Riley of Fairfax, VA and Patty Ryan; and nine grandchildren Faith Mangente Riley; Brian, Emily, Katie, and Erin Gehrdes; Alice, Joe, Tim, and Bridget Riley-Ryan; all of her nieces and nephews and countless other relatives and friends. She passed away in the presence of her family at Mary and David’s home. Bill, John and the rest of the family are deeply grateful to Mary and David, the Gehrdes kids, and Petey and Cody – the faithful dogs who stayed by Pat’s side -- for the loving care they provided throughout her long illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the work of Christ House of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington, P.O. Box 1900, Merrifield, VA 22116-1900. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 12:45 PM at the Old Post Chapel, Arlington National Cemetery with interment immediately following the Mass.
